consultation + Program Development
Sometimes our programs and initiatives don’t have the outcomes we desire, or there are concerns around access, or even if the program or policy is effective. Other times we see a problem in our community or a gap in services, but aren’t quite sure how to address it or what the needs are.
Consultation services provide guidance and support tailored to help you build capacity, address challenges, and foster sustainable growth. I can help you to identify areas and pathways for improvement, and/or assist you in creating and structuring new programs.
I’ve worked on consultation + program development/evaluation projects in a number of areas: mental health, racial justice, Indigenous mental health, community health services, child welfare, sexualized and gender-based violence, trauma-and-violence informed practice, and immigration and border enforcement. I also have experience in policy development and evaluation.
These services are charged at a starting rate of $235/hour. A estimate of costs can be given following a email detailing what you’re looking for or a free 20-min consultation call to determine needs, scope, and available resources.
Program Development
Involves systematically assessing the design, implementation, and outcomes of a program to determine its effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. As part of this, I provide feedback to stakeholders that will guide future program development.
Program Evaluation
Involves determining the mental health needs of the community and how to best meet them, creating and structuring new programs or modifying existing ones to better meet the needs of the target population. This process could include defining the program's goals and objectives, developing the content and activities, ensuring the program is accessible and inclusive, and setting up mechanisms for ongoing evaluation and improvement.
Policy Development
Involves creating policies: the formal statements of principles or rules that guide decision-making and actions within an organization or government. This includes identifying issues, setting objectives, drafting policy documents, and consulting with stakeholders to ensure the policy is effective and inclusive.
Policy Evaluation
Involves evaluating existing or proposed policies to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and impact. This involves researching and collecting data, assessing the policy's outcomes, identifying any unintended consequences, and recommending changes or alternatives to improve the policy's performance.
